TSMC 10nm to tape out soon, 7nm in 2018

All on track for TSMC

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, usually known as TSMC, has announced its annual report stating that 10nm manufacturing process should tape out soon while 7nm manufacturing process should be ready in 2018.

Despite getting some big competition from the likes of Samsung, TSMC has reported profits of $9.15 billion, which is a 16.2 percent increase compared to the last year.

According to the report from Expreview.com, TSMC expects to have tape out the 10nm manufacturing process soon, or by the end of Q1 2016. The next 7nm manufacturing process is expected to come in 2018. Back in December last year, TSMC has announced that it has started work on a 5nm manufacturing process.

While 10nm manufacturing process should tape out soon, we are yet to see some of the first AMD and Nvidia GPUs made on 14nm and 16nm FinFET manufacturing process which will probably dictate the future and the release schedule.
