MSI has unveiled the new CPU Guard 1151 bracket which should prevent issues with Intel Skylake CPUs which bend under pressure of some after-market CPU coolers and could also be handy to those that decide to delid their CPU.
We already wrote about issues regarding Skylake CPUs which tend to bend when too much pressure is applied from certain CPU coolers but it appears that all it takes to fix the problem is a simple socket brace.
Developed as a brace for delidded CPUs, which holds the IHS firmly in placed when it is placed back on the CPU, the MSI CPU Guard 1151 bracket also gives additional strength on socket corners, which should prevent any unwanted bending of both the CPU or the socket.
MSI also said that the same CPU Guard 1151 bracket was recently used on an overclocking event allowing overclockers to push Skylake CPUs to reach new overclocking events.
According to MSI, the CPU Guard 1151 bracket can be used with Intel Socket 1151 Xeon E3 v5, Core, Pentium and Celeron CPUs but it did not talk about compatibility with motherboard from other manufacturers. MSI also did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date.
