According to the latest report, Intel has finally clarified the confusion regarding Intel's Skylake Core i3 SKU TDP, which has been listed at 47W, then 51W and later 65W.

Intel's representative Mikael Moreau has revealed a bit more details for Fanlesstech.com, saying that the original 47W TDP was incorrect and later fixed by Intel.

The 51W TDP is the performance power number which Intel provides to system designers in order to have the precise power level of the specific product while the real TDP for Core i3 Skylake desktop CPUs, which include the Core i3-6100, Core i3-6300 and the Core i3-6320 is actually set at 65W.

The listed 65W TDP is actually the value that customers should use when selecting a suitable thermal solution for their system in order to ensure proper cooling.

This also means that Skylake Core i3 SKUs have a slightly higher TDP than it was earlier thought. This also means it is it a bit harder to get make a completely passively cooled system with Core i3 Skylake CPUs.
