Nvidia working on new GTX 965M mobile graphics card

Should keep the same GTX 965M name

While the GTX 965M does a pretty good job in closing a big gap between the GTX 960M and the GTX 970M in the mid-range part of the market, according to the new report, Nvidia is working on a faster version that should launch in Q1 2016.

According to a report from Notebookcheck.net, the new graphics card could keep the same name, which will make a big confusion on the market.

The report, citing an exclusive insider, states that the new GTX 965M (N15E-GR) will have a higher clocks, with base clock raised from 924MHz to 935MHz and GPU Boost clock raised from 950MHz to 1150MHz.

The rest of the specifications should remain unchanged but with a 20 percent higher clock, the new GTX 965M could hit 8400 points in 3DMark 11, which should put it well ahead of the GTX 960M and closer to the GTX 970M.

It is still unknown which notebooks will end up with the new GTX 965M, but usual suspects like MSI, Clevo and Gigabyte should be the first to use the updated GPU.
