A well known overclocker and a dear friend of Ocaholic.ch, der8auer, has created a rather interesting and quite useful tool for delidding Skylake (and other) CPUs, the Delid Die Mate.
According to a post over at HWBOT.org forums, the idea came when he damaged one of its best binned Skylake CPUs by delidding it with a razor blade. The tool is quite simple and works on the vice method, where the CPU and the heatspreader are secured inside the tool and lined up perfectly which makes the process of delidding quite easy.
The tool also allows you to glue the IHS back on the CPU in case you need it and should be quite handy for overclockers and benchers.
According to the post, the tool is also compatible with Ivy Bridge, Haswell and Devil's Canyon CPUs and even possibly Broadwell CPUs. Der8auer also added a short video which explains the tool in details so if you are interested you can check it out below.
The Delid Die Mate tool from der8auer should be available at Caseking.de soon with a price of €89,90. While it might sound a bit steep, the price is calculated on the fact that there are only 20 pieces produced but if the bigger batch is produced, the price should go down by €10 to €20.
