ASUS announces ROG Maximus VIII Impact motherboard

Intel Z170 chipset on mini-ITX motherboard

Although we have already seen a couple of pictures of it earlier last week, ASUS has now officially announced its Z170-based ROG Maximus VIII Impact mini-ITX motherboard.

While there have been plenty of Intel Z170 Express chipset motherboards during the official launch, there have been a few that we had to wait for quite some time, including ASUS' Republic of Gamers high-end mini-ITX motherboards, the ROG Maximus VIII Impact.

Featuring the same design as previous ROG Maximus Impact mini-ITX motherboards, with high-end VRM placed on a daughter board near the edge of the motherboard. That same daughter board now has a rear metal guard which should provide better rigidity as well as as additional cooling.

While we have already seen some details with earlier released pictures, ASUS has now unveiled a bit more specifications. As this is a mini-ITX motherboard there is only room for two DDR4 memory slots with support for 32GB of DDR4-4133 memory. It also comes with four SATA 6Gbps ports and a U.2 connector positioned near the back I/O. It also features a single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot.

The rest of the specifications include Intel's I219-V Gigabit LAN with ASUS LANGuard and GameFirst technologies, dual-band 802.11ac WiFi with MU-MIMO qsupport and Bluetooth v4.1, single USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and single USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C ports on the back panel, six USB 3.0 ports, ROG SupermeFX Impact III audiowith ES9023P codec, SupremeFX shielding, Sonic SenseAmp, headphone amp and LED-lighted jacks and more, all neatly packed on a mini-ITX 17x17cm form-factor.

According to ASUS, Republic of Gamers Maximus VIII Impact should be available soon with a price of around US $249.
