While we already knew that both TSMC and Samsung are making the Apple A9 SoC for the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus, it appears that TSMC made the majority of those chips so far.
According to data released by Hikaru Wang, a developer that made the CPU Identifier app for iOS, it appears that TSMC A9 SoC is in just under 52 percent of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus smartphones. According to the data, Samsung is ahead when ti comes to iPhone 6S Plus smartphones, with around 59 percent, while most iPhone 6S smartphones, or just about 72 percent run on TSMC-made Apple A9 SoC.
Of course, data only counts those users that have actually installed and ran the CPU Identifier app and the app itself is not included in the iOS App Store so you have to install it manually.
In any case, it appears that Apple's move to use both Samsung and TSMC for its A9 SoC is paying off as the company is doing well to cope with the demands for new smartphones.
