Maybe some of you recall Steve Jobs saying there would never be a need for a tablet with other dimension than 8.9 inch. Apparently Tim Cook thinks otherwise, since the iPad Mini and now the iPad Pro have completely different sizes, then the ones Jobs was convinced of.
The new iPad Pro brings more than just are larger, 12.9 inch display. Alongside the tablet there is even a stylus and a keyboard in the delivery. Looking for more details we find 2048 x 2732 pixel resolution, which compared to the iPad Air 2 is quite a bit higher. Thanks to the larger screen Apple was able to improve multitasking capabilities of the iPad pro, taking full advantage of the new split screen mode.
Having a closer look at the detailed specs, we find the latest A9X SoC, which supports 64 Bit. Compared to the A8X, which you can find in the iPad Air 2 Apple claims the new chip is about 1.8 times faster. In the case of the GPU there should be a factor 2 in performance difference.
In general one might think that Apple was glancing over to Microsoft taking some inspiration from their Surface Pro. Both devices come with a stylus, which in case of Apple is called the Apple Pencil. There is also a separate keyboard available for new iPad Pro.
Checking prices we find the base model with 32 Gigabyte internal storage listed for 799 US-Dollar, whereas the 128 Gigabyte version costs 949 US-Dollar. If you want a 128 Gigabyte iPad Pro with LTE module Apple will ask you 1’079 US-Dollar. If you buy a stylus or a suitable smart keyboard, that adds 99 US-Dollar or 169 US-Dollar, respectively to your bill. Apparently the devices are available in different colors and you can get the new iPad with silver, space grey and silver finish.
