Fractal Design Define R5 tested in quiet room

Passes the test for a silent case

Fractal Design did a rather neat thing with its Define R5 PC case in order to prove how silent the case is and has tested it in the world's quietest room.

Fractal Design's Define R5 was not tested in an ordinary quiet room but rather the Guinness World Record-holding quietest room on earth, the Anechoic Chamber at Orfield Laboratories. Compared to a quite a few everyday sounds and rooms, the Define R5 really did good, rather impressive if you ask us.

To be precise, the Fractal Design Define R5 case was a part of Pugent Serenity System, so it is pretty much what you should expect from your system in case you go for the Define R5 PC case. The system was nearly silent at idle and somewhere between a ticking watch and rustling leaves when running at 100 percent load.

Fractal Design's Define R5 achieves this with high density noise-reducing material, the use of its own Dynamic GP14 140mm fans, sturdy metal HDD trays. Despite all these features it still does not compromise on airflow or cooling capability and even has an extensive water cooling support for a case of that size.

We already did a review of the Fractal Design Define R5 back in January and only had praise on all the features that the engineers have implemented in order to reduce noise as effectively as possible.
