Nvidia has announced that it has issued a voluntary recall of certain 8-inch Shield Tablet devices due to potential fire hazard.
Launched about a year ago, the Nvidia Shield Tablet features an 8-inch Full HD screen and Tegra K1 SoC packed in a 9.2mm thick casing. According to what we can gather from Nvidia's press release is that there is a problem with the battery on certain devices sold between July 2014 and July 2015.
According to Nvidia, users of those specific tablets should stop using the tablet, except to participate in the recall and backup their data. According to
Nvidia and its official tablet recall site, users should make sure that the device is updated to the last software and check out if their device come with either Y01 or B01 battery type. Those with Y01 battery are eligible for a recall.
Nvidia noted that those with such tablet will receive a replacement tablet after successfully registering to participate in the recall. In case your tablet already died for some reason or you have some other additional questions you can dial up country specific phone number.
