According to a leaked official Radeon R9 Fury press deck it appears that Radeon R9 Fury will end up faster than the Geforce GTX 980 at 4K/UHD resolution, at least according to AMD.

While the NDA ends today, July 10th, and we are just a few hours away from the official launch of the AMD Radeon R9 Fury (non-X) graphics card, we now have some of the first AMD official performance details, showing that the new Fiji GPU based graphics card is actually a bit faster than Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 at 4K/UHD resolution, at least according to AMD.

The difference, according to AMD is anywhere between 6 and 8 frames per second in each of the listed games, including Tomb Raider, Far Cry 4, Battlefield 4, GTA 5 and some other titles.

In case you missed it earlier, the Radeon R9 Fury will be based on a cut-down version of the Fiji GPU with 56 Compute Units or 3584 Stream Processors, 64 ROPs and 224 TMUs. It will still pack 4GB of High Bandwidth Memory clocked at 500MHz and paired up with a 4096-bit memory interface. The TDP is set at 275W and it still needs two 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors.

What makes the Radeon R9 Fury special and quite different compared to the previously released Radeon R9 Fury X, is the fact that it will not have a reference version as AMD AIB partners will be able to do custom designs from day one and as you can see from the leaked slides, posted by eTeknix.com, both Sapphire and ASUS will have some impressive versions, which were also revealed earlier.
