In case you were wondering if your PC will be able to cope with the Oculus Rift virtual-reality headset, you might want to check out the recently released recommended PC requirements for the Oculus Rift.
Scheduled to launch sometime in the first quarter of next year, it appears that Oculus Rift VR headset will need quite a decent powered PC system in order to work. According to the release specifications you'll need at least an Intel Core i5-4590 CPU or better, Nvidia's Geforce GTX 970 or AMD's Radeon R9 290 graphics card or better, at least 8GB of RAM, compatible HDMI 1.3 video output, two USB 3.0 ports and Windows 7 SP1 OS or newer.
Bear in mind that it is quite important to note that HDMI 1.3 video output has to support direct output architecture, which means that most, if not all notebooks, are excluded since most of then used Nvidia Optimus and AMD Enduro technology and dedicated GPUs mostly use outputs from the integrated GPU, so most of them will not work with Oculus Rift.
According to Oculus VR, the goal is that all games and application for Oculus Rift VR headset deliver a great experience on recommended configuration and it is up to developers to optimize and tune their games and apps for certain configurations.
