Grand Theft Auto V launch did not go well

Slow download speeds, various issues and Windows bug

While PC gamers have been waiting for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V for over year and a half, the launch day did not go as well as everyone hoped, despite the Steam pre-download and thanks to a Windows user name bug.

While Steam offered Grand Theft Auto V for pre-download earlier, a 1GB hefty launch-day patch pretty much ruined everything since server was once again loaded with download speeds of 0.05Mbps. Users with SSDs also had some rather annoying issues with pre-download from Steam as the 59GB download installer needed additional 65GB of space to decrypt the game which easily filled any 128GB SSD and even some 256GB ones.

What made the launch day even more annoying is a weird Windows bug that made the game unplayable on those Windows PCs where users had special-characters in the Windows user names. According to known details, GTA V will tolerate only standard letters as well as numbers and in case your Windows user name has any other character, you are out of luck.

Both Steam and Rockstar have announced that they are working on a fix for these issues and have even described a few workarounds and Valve has also offered a refund for those that are too disappointed.
