HGST, a Western Digital company, has announced its newest NVMe compliant Ultrastar SN100 series PCIe solid state drive, calling it the industry's highest-performing NVMe compliant SSD with performance peak of 3,000/1,600 MB/s.
Combining four lane PCI-Express Gen3 interface with NVM-Express protocol, the new server-oriented Ultrastar SN100 series SSD from HGST will be available in capacities of up to 3.2TB and offer peak read and write sequential performance of 3,000 and 1,600 MB/s, respectively.
Since it is suitable mostly for enterprise application, the Ultrastar SN100 series SSD will offer random performance of up to 310,000 IOPS for random mixed performance, up to 160,000 IOPS for random write
and up to 743,000 IOPS for random read performance.
The Ultrastar SN100 series SSD will be available in two form-factors, as a half-height, half-length add-in card in 1.6TB and 3.2TB capacities as well as a 2.5-inch SFF SSD form-factor, in 800GB, 1.6TB and 3.2TB capacities.
According to HGST, Ultrastar SN150 HH-HL add-in card is shipping now while the 2.5-inch SFF Ultrastar SN100 SSDs will be available in May. Unfortunately, HGST did not reveal any details regarding the price.
