Mad Catz unveils a new wireless headset

The F.R.E.Q.9

The CES 2015 show in Las Vegas is the perfect opportunity for manufacturers to unveil their new products so Mad Catz opened up the show with a new wireless audio headset aimed at gamers, the F.R.E.Q.9.

While Mad Catz already has a rather extensive range of headsets and headphones, the previous flagship F.R.E.Q.7 has lost its place at the top of the range with the arrival of the new F.R.E.Q.9 which features both Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and microphone with passive attenuation of ambient noise.

Design side, it is very close to its predecessor, just without the flexible microphone. It is a closed helmet with an active attenuation of sound. The microphone is placed on the right earcup, as well as the three buttons that allows you to adjust various settings of the headset including, the one to activate the AM3D mode and the sound control dial located on the bottom. The F.R.E.Q.9 is equipped with 50mm transducers and come with a base that will connect it to the PC.

In addition to the base connection, the F.R.E.Q.9 may be connected simultaneously to a device running on Android or iOS, which will allow you to answer the phone while playing games or using the headset outdoors. It will be available commercially as early as the end of January and will cost $299.99, which will certainly be 299.99€ in Europe.
