While Nvidia's CES 2015 keynote was focused on Tegra X1 as well as automotive industry and there was no hint of Geforce, at least we have some fresh leaks regarding the upcoming GM206 Maxwell GPU that should launch soon as the GPU behind the Geforce GTX 960 graphics card.
Exclusively leaked by
Videocardz.com, which also managed to snag a picture of the GPU, the GM206-300 variant should be behind the Geforce GTX 960. While the precise specifications of the GM206 are still not confirmed, it is believed that it will have anywhere between 8 and 10 SMMs, or 1024 and 1280 CUDA cores.
According to first details, the reference Geforce GTX 960 will ship with 2GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 128-bit memory interface. Of course, partners will launch the 4GB GDDR5 versions shortly after the official launch.
To make things even more interesting, the Geforce GTX 960 has been already listed in several stores and ASUS GTX 960 Strix and DirectCU II versions have been already spotted as well as graphics cards from some other partners like Galax.
According to one retailer, the NDA will be lifted on January 15th which is a week earlier than previously reported launch date, but we will have to wait and see.
