First Just Cause 3 screenshots show up

Could be a free-to-play game

We still do not have any official information, but we finally have proof that something is happening when Just Cause 3 is concerned. In case you missed it before, Just Cause 3 is the famous open-world shooter developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Square Enix. We already knew, since last April, that Square Enix bought the JustCause3Game.com web domain, but we finally have more juicy details.

Based on what a user http://xbox-underground.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=47" target="_blank">published on the Xbox Underground forum, the new Just Cause 3 is already in development for quite a while now, since we already have the first screenshots where we can see Rico, the aerial view of an island, and what looks like an internal market. The authenticity of the screenshots have been confirmed by Eurogamer too.

Watching the last screenshot, which shows an internal black market, somebody speculated that Just Cause 3 might actually be a free-to-play game with an internal market where users will be able to acquire new vehicles, weapons, and many other object. Even though the screenshot is pretty clear, Eurogamer reported that an anonymous source close to the production, confirmed that “the plan changed and this may no longer be the case.”

Too bad that just a few days ago Christopher Sundberg, the Avalanche Studios’ boss, tweeted that “Microtransactions, subscriptions, and other biz models will be the next generation of games. It is that simple. We’ll never compromise on quality or sell our souls for a quick buck. Things are changing and we need to adapt.”

Needles to say, but both Avalanche Studios and Square Enix are not commenting on the rumors.
