Google has been getting a lot of coverage regarding its Project Ara, which does not come as a surprise considering that probably everyone is excited about the idea of a modular smartphone. Today, Google teased a bit more details regarding the Project Ara as well as announced two developer conferences which will be held in the U.S on January 14th 2015 and in Singapore on January 21st.
According to the released video, which you can check out below, Google has decided to tease what we will be able to see on those two developer conferences, and the main new change is the Spiral 2, second generation of the Project Ara hardware. While half of the space on the previous prototype, Spiral 1, was dedicated to components required to hold various modules, the Spiral 2, which is custom hardware from Toshiba, will actually cut down the space needed and give developers more space for the hardware.
One thing is definitely not clear, as since Google promised to have a first Project Ara hardware available in January 2015, which could cost as little as US $50, Spiral 2 is either the first Project Ara smartphone or the next version which will come at a later date.
In addition to these major changes and advancements, Google has also showed the Project Ara prototype booting on the video but hopefully we will see a fully working model during these developer conferences scheduled for January next year.
