Lite-ON announces M.2 PCIe gen 2x4 SSD

Enterprise EP1 series

Lite-ON has announced its newest EP1 series M.2 PCIe Gen 2x4 solid state drive during Dell World 2014 conference held in Austin, Texas. As a part of Lite-ON's EP1 series, the new M.2 PCIe Gen 2x4 SSD is focused on enterprise market.

According to Lite-ON, the new EP1 series SSDs are compact, power-efficient solid state solutions that fit directly in a PCIe bus in order to increase server application performance without burdening host CPU and memory resources. Rated at delivering 4K random read and write performance of up to 150.000 IOPS and 44.000 IOPS with low latencies of 40/30ns. The new EP1 series SSDs will be available in 480GB and 960GB capacities with sequential transfer read/write speeds of up to 1500/640 MB/s and 1500/1200 MB/s, respectively.

Since it is aimed at enterprise server market, the EP1 series SSDs also feature power loss protection, multiple layers of data protection, and customized firmware that make them a perfect fit for mixed use environments and application workloads such as online transaction processing (OTP), financial transactions, E-commerce, SQL logging, collaboration, and email servers, according to Lite-ON.

As expected and as it was the case with the entire Lite-ON enterprise lineup, the EP1 series SSDs will also have a MTBF of 2 million hours and endurance rating of up to 1 driver write per day for five years.

Unfortunately, Lite-ON did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date of the new EP1 series M.2 PCIe Gen 2x4 enterprise SSDs.
