Colorful has now officially announced and launched its new flagship Geforce GTX 980 based graphics card, the Colorful GTX 980 iGame. Based on a fully custom design with high-end VRM as well as high factory-overclocked settings in two BIOS options, the Colorful GTX 980 iGame is definitely one of the more impressive GTX 980 graphics card on the market.
As noted, the new Colorful GTX 980 iGame features a fully custom non-reference PCB design which features, according to Colorful, pure silver traces, a high-end 14-phase VRM that draws power from two 8-pin PCIe power connectors, server-grade tantalum capacitors, high-grade DPAK MOSFETs, and high-current solid-chokes which should solve the "whine" problem seen on some GTX 980 graphics cards.
The Colorful GTX 980 iGame also ships with a dual BIOS option that can easily be switched with a push-type switch. The first BIOS settings put the Colorful GTX 980 iGame at 1127MHz for the GPU base, 1216MHz for the GPU Boost clock while 4GB of GDDR5 memory remains at 7.0GHz. The second BIOS setting on the other hand push the GPU base clock up to 1178MHz, GPU Boost clock goes up to 1279MHz while memory remains at 7.01GHz.
Colorful was keen to note that both of these BIOS settings do not push the VRM and cooling to its maximum potential but rather expect enthusiasts to have fun with the GTX 980 iGame and push it to its limits.
In order to keep the GPU as well as those high-end custom components well cooled, Colorful has decided to use a massive triple-slot cooler with three 100mm fans as well as a metal backplate which should keep some of the rear components cooled and help to keep the PCB a bit more rigid. The GTX 980 iGame features three Displayport 1.2, HDMI 2.0 and one DVI output.
Colorful has already started shipping the new GTX 980 iGame to select markets in APAC and EMEA regions and has also announced that it is currently working on an even more powerful GTX 980 based on the same PCB, the GTX 980 iGame Kudan as well as the GTX 970 iGame, a same graphics card which is based on GTX 970 GPU.
