The SM1715 with 3D V-NAND

Samsung announced that it has begun mass production of the SATA Express SSD for enterprise market, called the SM1715. The device is compatible with the standard NVM Express (NVMe) standard, which regularizes the management of the SATA Express SSD.

Samsung's SM1715 provides very good performance numbers with this device, in fact, the SM1715 is capable of 3000 MB/s in sequential read and 2200MB/s of sequential write performance. Regarding the random performance, the SM1715 reaches a maximum peak of 750,000 IOPS in read and up to 130,000 IOPS in write.

Samsung claims that this SSD ensures a maximum reliability of 10 DWPD (drive writes per day, complete records per day) for five years. The 3.2 TB version is not the only one as the same device will be also available in 1.6 TB version and in a 2.5-inch form factor like the the XS1715.

Like other recent models in the consumer environment, the Samsung SM1715 uses the latest 3D V-NAND flash memory.
