Earlier this year Sony unveiled its Project Morpheus virtual reality headset, an answer to a popular Oculus Rift VR headset. In a recent interview with Sony's Shuhei Yoshida revealed more details regarding Sony's VR project suggesting that we might see the Project Morpheus quite soon.
In an interview with
The Wall Street Journal, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida noted that the Project Morpheus is about 85 percent complete and thanks to the components which are used largely in smartphones, the cost of the headset will be kept relatively low, which is definitely a good news.
While it is nice to hear that the device is about 85 percent complete, Yoshida did not reveal any details regarding the precise date of the launch. This year sounds highly unlikely but early 2015 still sounds like a good news.
Oculus VR is still quite ahead and yesterday announcement of the Crescent Bay prototype definitely puts them ahead of Project Morpheus and it is quite possible that Oculus VR will beat Sony to the market.
