Alleged AMD R9 300 series hybrid cooler spotted

New hybrid cooler made by Asetek?

Circling around Chinese tech forums is the picture of a new cooler shroud which has a similar design to the R9 295X2 hybrid cooling system made by Asetek. According to reports, this could easily be the first prototype of future Radeon R9 300 series cooling.

This new picture of the cooler shroud, spotted by Videocardz.com, is allegedly the first prototype of Asetek's cooler for some future R9 300 series graphics card, most likely the R9 390X. There are quite a few differences when compared to the hybrid cooler for the R9 295X2 and the most important one is that this one is made for a single GPU graphics card. The middle fan has also been moved to the side and you can even see the holes for liquid cooling tubes.

To put more heat to the fire, Asetek has recently announced that it has scored the largest ever design win with an undisclosed OEM which should result in to 2 to 4 million dollars of revenue for the company which shipping scheduled for the first half of the next year.

The pictured shroud is still a prototype and is probably designed for Radeon R9 390X based on the new Fiji GPU. If that is true, we will not see this graphics card anytime soon and Asetek's first half of 2015 timeframe is yet another hint.
