Toshiba unveils the Chromebook 2

Better hardware and battery life

The Chromebooks market is growing rapidly, and that's why manufacturers like Toshiba are jumping into it. The japanese company chose the IFA 2014 to unveil another Chrome OS based portable system.

Chromebooks finally found their place on the market, and Toshiba is going for it, selling a great number of laptops. The IFA 2014 has been the perfect occasion to unveil the new Chromebook 2.

It measures 20x214x19.3mm and it weighs 1.35kg. It features an Intel Celeron Bay Trail N2830 CPU at 2.16/2.47GHz, and a 13.3” display. It will be available in two different versions, the first one with a 1366x768 panel and 2GB of RAM, and the other one with an IPS 1920x1080 panel and 4GB of RAM. Furthermore, there's a 16GB SSD for storage, an SDHC reader and WiFi 802.11ac. As far as connections are concerned, there's a single USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, audio jacks, an Ethernet port and an HDMI output.

The battery should last up to 11.5 hours for the 2GB version, and up to 9 hours for the 4GB version. It will be available in Europe starting from Q1 2015, while it's expected to be on US market starting from 5th November. The MSRP is 249.99$ and 349.99$ respectively.
