While sticking mostly to teasers of its new round and premium G Watch R smartwatch, LG has now decided to officially announce it ahead of the IFA 2014 show. Based on a round 1.3-inch Plastic-OLED screen and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 chipset, the €299 priced LG G Watch R will definitely go head to head with the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch.
Jumping ahead, most likely due to Samsung's Gear S announcement, LG has finally unveiled its new LG G Watch R premium smartwatch. As noted, the LG G Watch R is designed around a 1.3-inch Plastic-OLED 320x320 screen, and unlike Moto 360, actually uses the entire screen. The heart of the LG G Watch R is the well known Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC with 1.2GHz CPU paired up with 512MB of RAM.
The rest of the specifications and features include Android Wear OS, 4GB of internal storage, 410mAh battery, all the usual sensors and connectivity as well as IP67 protection rating which makes it water and dust resistant.
While it did reveal that the G Watch R will feature 410mAh battery, LG did not announce any details on how long will the smartwatch be capable to run but we guess it will be higher than the G Watch due to new Plastic OLED panel.
LG Germany also revealed the price for the new LG G Watch R which will be set at €299 once it launches in October.
