Official version of Ubuntu MATE

The famous interface on Ubuntu

Ubuntu is one of the most famous GNU-Linux distributions, and it features a lot of user interfaces. The Ubuntu MATE project will bring the MATE interface on the Canonical OS, just like it happened on Linux Mint and Debian.

GNU-Linux enthusiasts will certanly know Ubuntu, and they might have heard of the MATE interface, which is one of the most appreciated user interface on Linux Mint. So the question is: why we don't have the MATE interface on the plain version of Ubuntu?

That what the MATE developing team is working on with MATE Project: they recently released an ISO, which is still in Alpha phase, using Ubunti 14.04 and the MATE interface, instead of Unity or any other interface you might find on various distributions.

Back in July, the MATE team asked directly to Ubuntu to integrate MATE inside the Beta version of the OS, as a downloadable content through the application library. This will help the team to get known by many users. The news made a lot of people happy, and a few test have already been run on the new OS: this is the day Ubuntu MATE was born.
