Refresh rate more important than resolution?

At least according to Phil Spencer

Phil Spencer is Microsofts boss for the Xbox division and during this years Gamescom he has been talking about a rather delicious topic. He's been making the point that he thinks refresh rate is more important than resolution.

During his speech Spencer started to talk about Destiny for the Xbox One, which is offering the same specifications on Microsofts console like on Sony's PlayStation 4. Apart from that he said, that 1080p is no fantastic and perfect resolution and for him the refresh rate makes a much bigger difference, since it makes the whole gameplay smoother.

Well, if your in a situation where you have to defend/promote a product, which is simply not as powerful as the one from your competitor, then you have think very carefully what you're saying. It appears that Phil Spencer is exactly doing that. Of course the refresh rate or in other words the frame rate has a bigger impact on the gameplay than the resolution, but at the same time he's moving the focus away from the fact, that the Xbox is simply not as powerful as the PlayStaition 4 and that it can very, very barely run FullHD on some games. In our opinion Spencer is basically using the tactics of searching for a bigger problem and making that one more important than the initial issue and then replace the initial issue with the new one and talk over it.

For sure time will tell whether we're right with our assumption or not. But at the moment is looks quite clear and we're rather sure that Microsoft has to find a straw and grip it asap.
