According to a report from BBC, Nvidia is apparently making a move for a living room with a set-top box which will be able to stream PC games to your favorite TV. The device is rumored to be based on Android, have a separate controller and powered by Nvidia's Tegra K1 SoC.


It appears that Nvidia is making a move which will put it in direct competition with both the Ouya Android gaming console as well as Valve's Steam Machines since it will be able to stream games from the PC. Of course, Nvidia's device will be somewhere between these devices as it will obviously be much more powerful than Ouya, thanks to the Tegra K1 SoC, but less powerful than Steam Machine systems.

What puts pressure on the Valve is the rumored capability of streaming games from the PC, something that Nvidia has already done with Shield hand-held console with its Geforce Experience. Of course, it also needs a newer Geforce GTX graphics card in your PC in order for streaming to work.

Valve has delayed the Steam Machines project to 2015, which obviously give Nvidia enough time to come up with such a device which might be quite interesting if it ends up in a correct and reasonable price range.
