First round of AMD Radeon price cuts noticed

Hits Radeon R9 and R7 series

We already wrote about possible price cuts that will be coming from AMD for its select Radeon R9 and R7 series and according to Computerbase.de, some of the AMD's AIC partners have already started to implement those price cuts.

According to Computerbase.de, HIS, one of AMD's big AIC partners have already started to cut some prices on select Radeon R9 and R7 series graphics cards including the R9 280X, R9 280, R9 270X and the R7 260X.

Currently the price cuts are only limited to HIS Radeon graphics cards, at least in Europe, where the R7 260X is currently selling for €99.90, R7 265 for €119.90, R9 270X for €149.90 and the R9 280X for €219.90.

The same thing is apparently happening everywhere as there has been a recent drop in price at Newegg.com as well, one of the biggest US retailers/e-tailers, where the HIS Radeon R 280 IceQ X2 has dropped down from US $279.99 to US $259.99.

In any case there is anywhere between US $10 and US $30 price cut on select Radeon graphics cards and while HIS might be the first one to implement these price cuts we are quite sure that all other AIC partners will follow as well.

The reason behind the price cut is quite simple as most of these aforementioned graphics cards are simply rebrands and recent rumors regarding the launch of the Tonga GPU which should replace these cards suggest that AMD might be wanting to get rid of the stock and make some room for the new ones.

We will keep an eye on the GPU market since the Tonga GPU based Radeon graphics cards are expected to launch in August.
