We all have experienced the effects of a cyber attacks to our favourite websites: unavailable services, slow navigation, destroyed websites, and so on. But what’s happening on a global level?
You might be aware of how a cyber attack works, but realizing what’s the scale of the problem is a whole other thing. Norse is an American company which used data from their infrastructures to create a worldwide map of the cyber attacks, which works in real time.
Clearly they can only show the tip of the iceberg, since they are using only their data, but it can give you a general idea of the problem. Most of the attacks are towards the USA, probably because a lot of countries don’t share the same idea of freedom as the United States.
It only takes a couple of minutes (and it’s really hypnotic, so that shouldn’t be a problem), to realize what’s the Chinese bots impact can be, on a global scale. There’s an order, a group of zombie PCs attacking the same service, and you’ll see a great number of lights on the map. The whole thing can be solve, of course, but only with a great stress from the attacked server.
This map is really interesting, and it gives an idea of what is the scale of the problem on a global level.
