According to a couple of rumors floating around the Internet, there might not be a sequel to the Ryse: Son of Rome game as it might have been canceled due to disagreement between Microsoft and Crytek.
Released back in 2013, Ryse: Son of Rome was just what Xbox One needed with its flawless looking graphics and quite good gameplay and while sequel sounded like a done deal, it appears that it might not happen.
The reason for the cancellation, according to rumors, might have something to due with intellectual property as Microsoft apparently agreed to fund Ryse 2 but only if they could buy the Ryse IP from Crytek and apparently, that was something that Crytek did not want to do. The result, according to rumors, was that Microsoft decided not to fund the game which got the game canceled. Micosoft's spokeperson noted that the company has "nothing to announce about the future of the franchise at this time."
There have also been a few rumors that Crytek might be filing for bankruptcy and that some employees are already abandoning the sinking ship. Of course, bear in mind that these are all just rumors and we will surely keep an eye on the future of both Ryse 2 as well as Crytek.
