AMD's upcoming Hawaii based Radeon R9 290X graphics card could end up with a US $599.99 (499.99€, £399.99) price tag that should make it "cheap enough" to put a lot of pressure on Nvidia's Geforce GTX 780 and the GTX Titan graphics cards. During its press event in Turkey, AMD might have revealed in its slides that the R9 290X NDA should be lifted on October 15th, pointing out to the launch date, although we have been hearing 8th of October everywhere.


According to earlier details, the R9 290X is based on a 28nm Hawaii GPU and expected to feature 2816 GNC stream processors, 512-bit memory interface paired up with 4GB of GDDR5 memory for over 300GB/s of memory bandwidth. The US $599.99 price tag does not come as a surprise considering that AMD's R9 290X packs enough punch to put a lot of pressure on Nvidia's GTX 780 and/or Titan and there are even rumors that we would see a 6GB version after the initial launch.

Donanimhaber.com managed to spot a rather peculiar date during the AMD R9 290X press even held in Turkey which points out that the NDA date for the R9 290X could be lifter on 15th of October. We have been hearing the 8th of October date for some time and although AMD can change the dates quite easily, we would still put our money on 8th of October as these came from a few reliable sources.

In any case, we will know for sure in about a week.
