Samsung officially introduces 970 series M.2 NVMe SSDs

Featuring 970 PRO and 970 EVO

Samsung has launched its new 970 PRO and EVO M.2 NVMe SSDs. The South Korean electronics giant claims that these upcoming high-performance storage units are perfect for tech enthusiasts and professionals. Compared to the previous generation, they can deliver up to 30 per cent more sequential write speeds.

Looking at the performance figure, the 970 PRO hit sequential read speeds of up to 3'500MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 2'700MB/s. The 970 EVO achieves sequential read speeds of up to 3'500MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 2'500MB/s. According to the company, this insane perky performance are achieved due to the latest V-NAND MLC technology and the Phoenix controller.

Another key aspect of this two units regard the endurance. Samsung says that the new storage devices offer up to 50 per cent higher TBW compared the previous generation. Furthermore each unit is covered by 5-year warranty. The Samsung 970 PRO will be available in 512GB and 1TB capacities, and the 970 EVO in 250GB, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities.

According to Geizhals, the Samsung 970 EVO ranges from 114 Euro (250GB) up to 705 Euro (2TB) and, the 970 PRO starts from 303 Euro (512GB) up to 566 Euro (1TB). Compared to the first announcement, Samsung is offering the entire lineup at lower pricing.
