Expreview.com managed to get their hands on some information as well as, what appears to be, an official Intel slide which shed some light on a couple of Intel's upcoming Devil's Canyon CPUs, showing that these will be quite impressive considering that the flagship will have a 4.0GHz base clock frequency.
The slide reveals details of two Devil's Canyon SKUs including the flagship Core i7-4790K and the Core i5-4690K. The Core i7-4790K has an aforementioned 4.0GHz base clock frequency of 4.0GHz with Turbo Boost of 4.4GHz. It is a quad-core part with Hyper-Threading, has 8MB of total cache and an 88W TDP. The Core i5-4690K is not bad either as this quad-core does not have Hyper-Threading but with a base-clock of 3.5GHz. Turbo Boost of 3.9GHz, 6MB of cache and same 88W TDP sounds like a good deal as well.
Both SKUs will packs support for DDR3-1600 memory, have Intel HD Graphics 4600 IGP clocked at 1250MHz.
Intel managed to get quite an impressive specification with Devil's Canyon which come as a result of an improved thermal interface material (TIM) and updated packaging for chip.
Expreview also suggest that the Core i7-4790K could hit the 5GHz on air quite easily which will be definitely interesting for overclockers.
In addition to Devil's Canyon, Intel is also preparing an unlocked 20th anniversary edition Pentium CPU SKU, which should launch together with the Devil's Canyon SKUs at Computex in June.
