According to a fresh set of slides from Fanlesstech.com, it looks like Intel definitely means business when it comes to it NUC boxes as it plans to bring Broadwell-based NUCs in fourth quarter this year. The new NUCs will be available as mainstream, codename Rock Canyon, and professional/business, codename Maple Canyon, SKUs and pack quite a few new features.
According to the leaked roadmap, the new NUC Kits will pack mini-HDMI and mini-DP video outputs which will bring triple display, as well as 4K/UHD support. The new NUCs will also bring standard 2.5-inch drive bay for HDD/SSD as well as the M.2 SSD slot. It will also have a built in WiFi and Bluetooth, IR sensor for remote control, replaceable lids with NFC and Wireless charging as well as standard USB 3.0 connectivity.
The mainstream Broadwell NUCs will be available with Core i3 and Core i5 CPUs while the professional/business NUC will be limited to Core i5 Broadwell CPU. The professional lineup will also feature Intel vPro technology and TPM hardware but lack IR sensor and Wireless charging.
