LibreOffice is an attractive alternative to Microsoft Office, which is available for free, although giant Oracle is standing behind and paying money to continue with the project.
Three weeks after version 4.2 of LibreOffice had been released, version 4.2.1 has been uploaded. With this update mainly bugs have been addressed and fixed.
With the update to version 4.2 quite a few changes have been made like for instance a new engine behind the Calc program. Other than that there have been some changes made regarding Windows 8.1 in order to increase usability. Unfortunately there are always new bugs when lots of changes have been made to software. If you for example want to import Power Point presentations or Excel sheets, then elements or equations can be changed, which is actually a rather huge bug. With 4.2.1 overall usability of the software has been improved and importing Microsoft files should be happening in a more seemless way.
