In addition to the information that AMD should showcase two Polaris architecture based GPUs at Computex 2016 show, Baffin and Ellesmere, today we have a bit more information about the R9 480 graphics card, which should be based on Polaris 10/Ellesmere GPU.
We have already seen some details regarding Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 GPUs earlier, including the rumor that these will be a part of Radeon R9 480 and R9 470 series and appear at Computex 2016 show.
According to new details and rumors, the Radeon R9 480, is based on AMD's 14nm Polaris 10 GPU, codename Ellesmere, and should pack 2304 stream processors based on AMD's Graphics Core Next 4.0 architecture. The GPU actually has 2560 stream processors so we should see a faster version in the future.
The rest of the specifications include a 256-bit memory interface, most likely equipped with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. The source also suggest that Ellesmere is GDDR5X-ready so we could see such update in future as well.
The GPU on the R9 480 is rumored to work at anywhere between 800 and 1050MHz, which should provide performance of R9 390 at half the power consumption.
These are still just rumors so you should take them with a grain of salt but since Computex 2016 show is scheduled to start on 31st of May, we are sure we will see more details as we draw closer to it.
