Microsoft teases DirectX 12 performance in a video
Up to 20% more GPU and 50% more CPU performance
Microsoft has released a new teaser video which shows the benefits of the DirectX 12 API and promises some rather impressive performance improvements.
The teaser video from Microsoft, which includes parts of DirectX 12 titles like Ashes of the Singularity, which brought explicit multi-GPU support, as well as Quantum Break, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and Just Cause 3.
According to Microsoft, the DirectX 12 will bring up to 20 percent more performance from the GPU and up to 50 percent more performance from the CPU, when compared to DirectX 11 API. The teaser video also shows an impressive quality difference between two APIs, especially when lighting is concerned.
All of this should bring better eye-candy in games as well as both reduced latency and higher frame rates.
Microsoft claims that the DirectX 12 is a ground-breaking Microsoft technology that gives game developers the ability to harness the full capabilities of a PC’s GPU(s) and raise the bar on graphic fidelity and immersive gameplay," and that Windows 10 with DirectX 12 is "the best Windows ever for gaming."
