G.Skill has announced its 3rd annual OC World Cup 2016 overclocking competition which will most likely attract some of the biggest names in the overclocking community due to the US $10,000 cash prize for the champion.
Before the four-day finals which will be held at G.Skill booth at Computex 2016 show, G.Skill's OC World Cup 2016 will be split into three rounds, Online Qualifier, Live Qualifier, and Grand Finals. Live Qualifier and Grand Finals will both be held at G.Skill's booth during Computex 2016 show from May 31st to June 3rd, 2016.
The Online Qualifiers on the other hand will be held at HWBOT.org from March 7th to April 11th and include three benchmarks, Highest DDR4 Frequency, 3Dmark 01 with IGP, and 3DMark 11 with IGP. The challenge will test memory tweaking skills of overclockers using G.SKILL's DDR4 memory, 6th generation Intel Core CPU and Z170 platforms. The top six overclockers from the Online Qualifier will win tickets to join the OC World Cup 2016 Live Qualifiers at Computex 2016.
This year, G.Skill prepared some neat prizes for contestants, including a US $10,000 prize for the champion. The second place will get US $2,500 and Trident Z DDR4 4000MHz 16GB (8GBx2) kit while the 3rd place will get US $1,500 and the same Trident Z DDR4 4000MHz 16GB (8GBx2) kit. The fourth and fifth place will get only the cash prize, US $1,200 and US $1,000, respectively.
All six contestants of the OC World Cup 2016 Live Qualifiers will receive DDR4 3600MHz CL15 16GB (8GBx2) and DDR4 4000MHz 8GB (4GBx2) memory kits as well as sponsorship of G.Skill for next-gen DDR4 platform.
