AMD will offer Project Quantum with AMD and Intel CPUs

Focus is on two Fiji GPUs in Crossfire

While it was caught using Intel's CPU on its Project Quantum SFF system during E3 2015, AMD has decided to clarify things a bit saying that main focus of the Project Quantum are two Fiji GPUs running in Crossfire while buyers will have a choice of the CPU, so both Intel and AMD will be offered.

In case you missed it, AMD's Project Quantum is an SFF gaming PC designed for 4K/UHD gaming and features two separate chambers, bottom with hardware and top with liquid cooling components.

While the prototype showcased during E3 2015 show was indeed running on Intel CPU, AMD noted that the focus of the Project Quantum was the fact that it packs two Fiji GPUs in Crossfire and can handle 4K/UHD gaming without breaking a sweat.

According to statement issued by AMD for TomsHardware.com, when the Project Quantum starts selling, buyers will have a choice with CPUs, picking which brand serves their needs better. It is good that AMD is giving buyers a choice when it comes to CPUs and while probably some of AMD's CPUs should be enough, two high-end GPUs will certainly require a good CPU and that is where Intel comes in.

Unfortunately, AMD still did not give out a specific launch date for the Project Quantum but we can expect it this fall, as soon as AMD officially launches dual-GPU Fury graphics card.
