Qualcomm might be going after AMD

Might be a good deal for both companies

There have been couple of reports suggesting that AMD might split but those were quickly denied by AMD but now we have a fresh report suggesting that Qualcomm might be interested in taking over AMD.

Earlier rumor coming from Reuters that AMD might breakup or spinoff in two was pretty far stretched but the new one suggesting that Qualcomm might be going after AMD is not that strange.

In a report by Seeking Alpha, Qualcomm's CEO Steve Mollenkopf mentioned that the company is interested in taking over a large part of server and adjacent markets, and has pointed out AMD as the most realistic financial possibility.

It is not unknown that AMD has been struggling recently and Qualcomm taking over AMD as a whole company is not something that would surprise us. AMD has already denied that it will split up the company or spin-off its parts which only suggest that Qualcomm might take the entire company.

This might be also good as both companies could benefit from such a deal, with Qualcomm getting AMD's Radeon for its SoCs and AMD getting the much needed financial boost as well as the know-how from Qualcomm.
