Assassin's Creed: Unity having performance issues on the PC

Not looking good for Ubisoft

There are plenty of reports regarding performance issues for Ubisoft's latest Assassin's Creed: Unity game and we have decided to check it out as well and while the game might look impressive, it still does not justify the high system requirements and lousy performance of the game on even the high-end systems.

While Ubisoft is promising a patch that could fix the performance on the PC, console users are also reporting performance issues suggesting that there is a bigger problem and that the game might be suffering for bad case of lousy optimization and pretty much bad development. Many sites are currently saying that the game is pretty much unplayable unless you are running on an ultra high-end system, and even then, the FPS is not as it should be.

Tweaktown.com was running the game on an Intel Core i7-4930K CPU, 16GB of Corsair 2400 DDR3 memory, SSD for storage and two Nvidia GTX 980 graphics cards in SLI mode and even that was not enough to get a decent playable rate at 2560x1440 resolution 144HZ ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q monitor at highest possible settings with anti-aliasing disabled.

We on the other hand went a bit lower on the system specifications and tried it out on a system equipped with Intel's Core i5-2500K CPU running on ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe motherboard with 8GB of GSkill ARES 1866 memory and ASUS GTX 780 DC2 OC graphics card, which is still way over Ubisoft's rather high system requirements. We were running the game at 1920x1080 resolution at Ultra High, TXAA and MSAA 8x settings which made it heavily unplayable.

As noted, there are plenty of reports that the game is simply unplayable and this might be Ubisoft's biggest flop so far. Hopefully, the performance will be fixed with upcoming updates, but for now, it does not look good for Ubisoft and we must agree that you should stay clear until the game is updated.
