Valve delays Steam Machine to 2015

New controller coming as well

Valve's Product Designer, Eric Hope, has just announced over at Steam official blog that the company will be delaying the Steam Machine platform for the next year.

The decision to delay the Steam Machine platform will certainly be a hard hit for the launch hardware partners which probably already have their systems ready, but, nevertheless, Valve will not give a green light before sometime next year.

Apparently, the biggest issue is the fact that Valve is not happy with the development of the Steam controller. "We're now using wireless prototype controllers to conduct live playtests, with everyone from industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers. It's generating a ton of useful feedback, and it means we'll be able to make the controller a lot better," Eric Hope noted in the blog post.

Yours truly agree that Valve should definitely delay the console until it thinks it is ready as the result of releasing a half-ready product is always worse than a delay. Of course, making partners unhappy is just part of the deal and if all goes well next year, this will be a minor issue.
