Nvidia introduces the GT740

Entry level GPU with possible GK107 chip

2014 should be the year of the new Nvidia 8 series GPUs, but right now Nvidia released a new 7 series GPU, the GT 740, probably featuring a GK107 chip.

We have very little informations about this, and we have to thank EXPreview for what we know: they discovered two different GT 740, one from Galaxy, and the other from Gainward. We don't know what's on that PCB, so we can't talk about performances.

The Galaxy model is blue, and it features a DVI-I and DVI-D outputs, an HDMI and a DisplayPort. This board need an additional 6-pin PCIe connector. The Gainward model doesn't need it instead, and this means its TDP is less than 75W. It features DVI-D, HDMI and VGA outpus.

EXPreview is showing a few images for the most curious of you. If this board will really feature a GK107 chip, we can't expect higher performances than the GT 630 and 640. It would basically be a rebranding, a common procedure for this kind of GPUs.
