Epic Games announces new Unreal Tournament

Completely free for PC, Mac and Linux

Earlier this week, Epic Games has teased the return of the Unreal Tournament and today we have some epic fresh new information regarding it, including the fact that it will be completely free, not free-to-play, just free.

According to Epic Games, the small team of Unreal Tournament veterans have been assembled in order to work on the project and the development will be completely open and done in collaboration between Epic, UT fans and UE4 developers. Epic Games also promises that the new Unreal Tournament will stay true to its origins and be developed as a competitive FPS. The development will be focused on Windows, Mac and Linux.

The best part of the story is that Epic Games will make the new Unreal Tournament completely free, not free-to-play as many games are, but just free. In order to get some money from it, Epic Games will create a marketplace where developers, modders, artist and gamers can buy and sell mods and content and earnings will be split between the creators and Epic.

The new Unreal Tournament from Epic Games is definitely an interesting project and while it will take many months before the game is actually playable, since the development has been started from scratch, we are certainly looking forward to it.
