The Z97-craze is finally picking up and one motherboard maker after another is sending out mails containing press pictures. This time it's Biostar's turn with their upcoming Hi-Fi Z97WE v5.0 motherobard.
Judging by the picture, this board looks quite neat with the color scheme kept in black, yellow and gold but honestly we preferred the black and blue they were using on the old Hi-Fi series motherboards. It's just such a pity that motherboard makers are such copy cats these days and individuality is something they seem to have completely forgotten about.
Nevertheless this appears to be a board aiming at the upper mid-range segment in case of all the Z97 motherboards that will make it to market. At a first glance, we can see four DIMM slots, two PCI-Express x16 3.0 slots as well as one PCI-Express x16 2.0 Slots, one PCI-Express x1 Slot and two legacy PCI slots. Furthermore there are six SATA ports, most likely SATA 6Gbps directly wired to the PCH, a debug display, power and reset button as well as Biostars interpretation of onboard audio coupled with high-quality caps.
We're certainly curious what this board is going to be like and maybe we'll get our hands on a sample to provide you guys with a complete review, but so far we have to keep looking at the picutres below.
