We already knew that Steam users are known for buying games and never actually play them but the recent report, which states that 36 percent of registered games on Steam have never been played comes as a big surprise nevertheless.


The report comes from Ars Technica site which used a random sample of approximately 172 million publicly accessible Steam profile pages which shows that over 36 percent of games have never been played.

The results also show that the most owned game on Steam is MOBA Dota 2 with 25 million owners, closely followed by Team Fortress 2 with 20 million owners. The most owned and unplayed games are the Half-Life 2: Lost Coast and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
