According to a report from Fudzilla.com, AMD has teamed up with Toshiba for a rather neat new memory product and it has nothing to do with new series of AMD Radeon memory modules but rather a more interesting AMD series of solid state drives (SSDs).
According to the report, the AMD will soon announce its first SSD which will feature OCZ made controller, most likely Barefoot series one, Toshiba 19nm NAND and, of course, AMD's marketing and branding. While the drive was made by OCZ, which is now a part of Toshiba, the AMD team was apparently responsible for the specification of the drive and made specially to meet AMD's needs.
With AMD branded SSD in sight, AMD will be able to offer complete system and we are quite sure that we will see some interesting bundles with AMD CPU, motherboard, graphics card, memory and SSD.
According to the same report, the reason behind this is in bundles and economics and not just performance as with more bundles, AMD can sell more of its parts as well as offer better deals to system integrators and OEMs. The report suggest that the announcement should come very soon and that we can expect 120GB to 240GB drives as AMD will not be interested in going after the high-end market.
