Samsung announces new 28-inch UD590 UHD monitor

As well as two 1080p ones

While it has been a busy few weeks for Samsung wit the release of the Galaxy S5, Gear 2 smartwatch and the new Chromebook, it was time for the display division to show its new products, including a new 28-inch UHD 3840x2160 resolution monitor and two FullHD 1080p ones.

Priced at US $699.99, the 28-inch UD590 gets you a decent size UHD 3840x2160 resolution panel with decent viewing angles, 1ms GTG response time, brightness of 370cd/m2 and support for 2 billion colors. It packs two HDMI and single Displayport inputs. Design wise, the new UD590 is made out of metal and has a T-shaped stand. It also features Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture mode, which is basically a way to split the screen in half for split-screen gaming or some multi-tasking in those professional applications.

In addition to the UD590, Samsung has also announced the SD390 and the SD590 monitors, both to be available in both 23.6-inch and 27-inch sizes. Both features 1080p resolutions and feature HDMI (additional HDMI on SD690) and D-Sub inputs. The higher priced SD590 also uses the same stand as the UHD UD590. The SD390 will be priced at US $250 and US $310 depending on the size while the SD590 will be priced at US $270 and US $330. Both should be available this month.

The UD590 is, as noted, priced at US $699.99 and should already be available for pre-order, but the shipping date is still unknown.
