Back in 2012 Valve announced with Greenlight a program, that allowed users to vote on the distribution of games available on Steam. According to a report from CVG Valve will be getting rid of Greenlight withing the next 12 months.
The news comes from an interview conducted by Curve Studios with Valve co-founder and CEO Gabe Newell. He was mentioning that they will make Greenlight go aways but not because it's of no use, but because Valve is evolving. Also according to the interview it looks like Valve wants to decided themselves which new games make it to Steam and which don't.
Since Greenlight had been introduced, 619 titles have actually received green light and out of these 249 have been published at a later stage. Greenlight is the first point of contact for a new developer with Steam and it will be interesting to see what kind of evolution Valve forsees for Greenlight.
